ASUU Strike: Students Block Ogun Portion Of Lagos-Ibadan Road

Hundreds of students under the aegis of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) on Tuesday blocked the Ogun State segment of the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, for hours.

The students were protesting the ongoing strike by public universities’ lecturers, and the scarcity of petrol.

They started converging at the redemption camp axis as early as 8 am before they started blockading the expressway, preventing traffic flow into and out of Lagos.

Travelers, workers and motorists were stranded for hours.

Ogun State chairman of NANS, Kehinde Simeon told newsmen that the strike by lecturers and shortage of petrol are making life difficult for students.

The student leader asked federal government to quickly reach a deal with the striking lecturers to re-open shut universities, instead of wasting time in renegotiating the 2009 agreement.
