ASUU, Federal Government to Resume Talks Today

The Federal Government and the Academic Staff Union Of Universities (ASUU) are scheduled to resume their stalled renegotiation of the disputed 2009 and December 2020 agreements today in Abuja.

The stalemate over the renegotiation of the agreement had shut down federal and state universities since last February 14.

ASUU President, Professor Emmanuel Osodeke, who announced the proposed meeting on a television programme, said they are still in the dark over the position.

According to him, the federal government reached out only on the issue of salaries.

But Osodeke said the issue of payment platform had been put to rest with the recent test of the federal government’s Integrated Personnel Payment Information System (IPPS)

The ASUU President said the test conducted on the payment platform had detected faults in the IPPIS, while that of the ASUU came first.
