APC Sets for Open Primaries, After Hours of Tension

The long awaited open primaries of the APC to pick its candidate for the 2023 presidential poll has kicked off.

From all indication, 21 aspirants are expected to slug it out in open primaries today at the Eagles Square, Abuja as last minute moves for consensus candidate collapsed on Monday night.

Two other aspirants, Senator Ken Nnamani and Governor Abubakar Badaru pulled out on Monday night.

The last hope for  a consensus candidate pushed by President Buhari was dashed when the meeting of the APC state governors and the party’as national working committee ended in a deadlock.

The national chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu stayed away from the meeting.

Top aspirants for the ticket are Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Governor Kayode Fayemi and Rotimi Amaechi.
