APC Candidate, Bola Tinubu Declared Winner Of Nigeria’s Presidential Poll

After a long wait, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the APC candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, as the winner of the keenly contested 2023 presidential poll.

INEC chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, announced the final results at 4.10 am today, at the end of three day old collation of results from the poll at the national collation centre, Abuja.

Tinubu, according to the INEC chairman, won with a simple majority of eight million, 794 thousand and 726 votes.

His closest rival, atiku abubakar of the pdp, scored six million, 984 thousand and 520 votes.

Peter obi of the labour party came third with six million, 101 thousand and 533 votes, while senator rabiu kwankwaso of the new nigeria peoples party got one milion, 496 thousand and 687 votes.

The INEC chairman said with the results, Tinubu of the APC had satisfied the constittutional requirements.

Yakubu said a certificate of return would be issued to the APC candidate and his running mate at 3 pm today

Further breakdown of the votes indicates that Tinubu won in ten states, Atiku (12 states) and Obi in 12 states, while kwankwaso won in only one state.
