Ogun State So-Safe corps says its special squad has arrested a 35 year old man for allegedly stealing a one and a half year old child, near Odeda in Ogun State.
The suspected kidnapper, Alani Sunday was caught while attempting to escape with the child at Tolase village.
Spokesman of the security outfit, Moruf Yusuf in a statement said the suspect had been handed over to the police for further investigation.
Yusuf said the agency’s special squad was on a routine patrol in the village.
The police explain that the child was stolen by the suspect, while playing when her mother was frying Cassava flakes in their compound.
Spokesman of the state police command, Abimola Oyeyemi said the man was chased by security operatives into a bush where he was arrested.
During interrogation, Oyeyemi said the suspect told the police that he came to the village with two women.
According to him, the suspect said he had previously stolen two children from Egbeda in Lagos and Akute, near Ijoko, and sold each of them to the women at N80,000 each.
