Amotekun Uncovers Bandits Arms, Military Uniforms In Oyo Forests

Amotekun Corps in Oyo state says it has received intelligence revealing the presence of bandits and other criminal elements in forests between Ilorin, Lafiaji and Surulere in the state.

The state Amotekun commander, retired Colonel Olayinka Olayanju, addressing a newsmen in Ibadan on Monday, said the intelligence was provided by a private firm engaged after a joint security meeting by the Oyo and Ogun state governments.

Following the report, the commander said his men have been combing forests from Soko village, off the Lagos-Ibadan expressway through Ibadan to Ogbomosho.

The commander said during the search, his men got a tip that some armed men were sighted around Galilee Hill and some of them were deployed to the area.

Olayinka said that although they could not find the armed men, they recovered a bag containing four AK 47 and 49 guns, over 50 7.2 millimeter special ammunition, military uniforms, drugs, fire lighters and energy drinks.

He added that Amotekun fighters have been keeping vigil in the axis for the armed bandits.
