Alake Wades Into Muslim Community Crisis, Revokes Suspension Of Chief Imam Of Egbaland
The paramount ruler of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo, the Alake of Egbaland, has waded into the crisis rocking the Egba Muslim Community, following the suspension of the Chief Imam of Egbaland, Alhaji Saad Bamigbola.
The monarch ordered all parties in the crisis to ceasefire immediately, and stop any activity, that could aggravate the situation until the issues are finally resolved.
The Alake of Egbaland also directed the executive committee of the Egba Alake Muslims to withdraw its suspension of the Chief Imam of Egbaland.
Also, he directed the Chief Imams of other sections of Egbaland, such as Oke Ona, Owu and Gbagura, to withdraw their letter suspending the Baba Adeen and Balogun Egba Muslims and other members of the Egba Ake Muslims Executive Committee.
The monarch issued the directive at a peace meeting with major stakeholders in the crisis, which he presided over in his Ake Palace in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

At the crucial meeting were all the leaders of Muslim communities in the Egba Ake, Egba Oke Ona, Egba Gbagura and Egba Owu, as well as Egba High Chiefs.
The paramount ruler expressed concern over the crisis, especially during the Holy month of Ramadan.
The Alake said he had expected the Muslim leaders in Egbaland to have worked out modalities for nipping it in the bud in line as stipulated in the Holy Quran.
Over the weekend, prominent Egba Muslims, including the Secretary General of the Nigeria Supreme Council on Islamic Affairs, Professor Ishaq Oloyede and Nigeria’s High Commissioner to the United Kingdom, Sarafadeen Ishola, the Baba Adeen of Yorubaland, Edo and Delta States had also intervened in the crisis.
The crisis etupted over the weekend after some prominent Egba Muslim leaders suspended the Chief Imam of Egbaland on various allegations.
Chief Imams of Egba Oke Ona, Egba Owu and Egba Gbagura, rejected the suspension, issued a counter suspension of top Muslim leaders in the Egba Ake Muslim Community.
