The force headquarters and the Police Service Commission are again at loggerheads over a fresh recruitment of police constables into the force for the year 2022.
The police service commission in an advertisement in a National daily last August 11,had asked interested Nigerians to apply for recruitment as police constables.
But force headquarters on Monday, asked Nigerians to ignore the advertisement by the police commission saying it violated the police recruitment process.
Force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi in a statement said that police force has not commenced the 2022 police recruitment exercise.
Both the force headquarters and the police service commission first clashed on which of them had the constitutional rights for the fresh recruitment of police constables in 2019.
The matter was later taken to a Federal High Court which ruled that the inspector general of police and not police service commission is empowered by the constitution to recruit police constables.
Also, the appeal court in 2020 upheld the power of the inspector general of police for the recruitment exercise.
