Afenifere Splits Over Tinubu, As Makinde Okays The APC Candidate

The Pan Yoruba Socio-Cultural Organization, Afenifere, has split over the endorsement of the APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The immediate past leader of the organization, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, and other members, and some Yoruba leaders converged at his country home at Akure on Sunday, to give their blessing to Tinubu’s ambition to become Nigeria’s next president.

The Afenifere leader, Pa ayo Adebanjo, who earlier declared the support of the organization for the Labour presidential candidate, Peter Obi, and some of other members boycotted the meeting.

Suprisingly, Governor Seyi Makinde sent his Deputy, Bayo Lawal,  to the Akure meeting, pledging his support for Pa Fasonrati camp for endorsing Tinubu.

Pa Fasoranti, after Tinubu presented its manifesto to the meeting, blessed him, while a communique issued at the end of the meeting, said Tinubu offered the best opportunities to produce a government which will usher a new era of peace and prosperity if elected.

Tinubu was accompanied to the meeting by the former APC Interim National Chairman, Pa Bisi Akande, the APC National Secretary, Senator Iyiola Omisore, Senator Dayo Adeyeye and Chief Pius Akinyelure.

Others are Former Governor Gbenga Daniel, the General Secretary of Yoruba Council of Elders, Senator Corneilus Adebayo.
