Abiodun Pleads with FG, Asuu to End Disputes

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State has pleaded with federal government and the striking lecturers to resolve their differences to allow students of public universities return to classes.

Abiodun urges both of them to shear swords in the overall interests of students and the nation.

The governor spoke on the stalemated negotiations while inaugurating the governing councils of the state owned tertiary educational institutions at the June 12 cultural centre, Abeokuta.

According to the governor, it is no longer a matter who is right or wrong, but what is good for the students stranded in their various homes since last February.

The governor asks federal government and the Academic Staff Union Of Universities ASUU to have a meeting point in the overall interests of students.

He says the effects of the prolonged strike by the lecturers are being felt in every aspects of the economy, adding that idle hands are devil’s workshop, with students out of campuses for more than six months.
