Abiodun Orders Massive Manhunt for Kidnappers at Ilishan Axis of Sagamu-Ijebu Ode Expressway

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has ordered security agencies to launch massive manhunt for the kidnappers, who operated at the Ilishan axis of the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode expressway on Sunday night.

The Governor in a statement on Tuesday, said his administration would not allow the state to become a den for kidnappers, adding that Ogun still remains a safe place to live, work and visit.

He said various security gadgets, including drones had been deployed to track the kidnappers, as well as additional patrols to the axis and other parts of the state.

He vowed that the gunmen would be smoked out, and arrested to face appropriate penalty for their criminal acts.

Police said the gunmen during the attack abducted a traveler from his jeep and shot another at a location between Sagamu police area command and Ilishan city gate.

He assured people in the state that their security was guaranteed as his administration was committed to security the state.

Meanwhile, Ogun state police command has given an update on the kidnapping incident at the Ilishan axis of the Sagamu-Ijebu Ode expressway on Sunday night.

The command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola on Tuesday night said three Indians were abducted by the gunmen.

Earlier on Monday night, the command had said that only one person in a RAV 4 jeep was taken away by the gunmen.

He assured the people that their security is guaranteed as the present administration has committed so much to secure the state.

Following Sunday’s kidnapping incidents that occurred in Ilishan, we want to reassure all residents that decisive action is being taken to apprehend the perpetrators and ensure the safe return of the victims.

The security forces have launched a comprehensive manhunt and are working tirelessly to track down the kidnappers.

Additional security measures and patrols have also been deployed to the affected area and across the state to prevent any further incidents.

We understand the concerns and anxiety this incident has caused, but we want to emphasise that Ogun State remains a safe place to live, work, and visit.

The government is committed to maintaining law and order and will not relent in its efforts to protect the lives and property of all citizens, Mr Abiodun said.
