Abiodun Basks In Poll Victory, Says His Re-Election Shows Power Belongs To God

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun state has thanked people in the state for re-electing him for a second term in office during the Saturday polls.

Abiodun, in his acceptance speech, after he was declared the winner of the poll on Sunday, said that his re-election has proved that power belongs to God, and that no man could stop what god has ordained.

He regards his re-election as a vote of confidence in his administration, promising to use it to continue with government of inclusiveness, which has been the hallmark of his administration.

Furthermore, the governor thanks the apc leaders and members who worked for his victory, while extending hand of friendship to well meaning individuals and opposition to join him to move the state to a higher pedestal.

He promised to ensure the completion of several ongoing projects, and not to develop any part of the state at the expense of others.

Governor Abiodun actualized his second term ambition by defeating his closest rival, Honorable Ladi Adebutu.

The state returning officer for the poll, professor, Kayode Adebowale who announcing the polls results on Sunday at the national collation centre, Abeokuta, said the governor scored 276,298 votes to defeat adebutu who obtained 262,283 votes.

Coming third is barrister Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) who gathered 94,754 votes.

Abiodun won the poll in twelve  out of the state’s 20 local government areas.

Abiodun won in  Abeokuta North, Odeda, Egbado North, Egbado South, Abeokuta North, Egbado South, Abeokuta North, Imeko Afon, Ado Odo, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu North, Ewekoro and Obafemi Owode Local Government Areas.

Adebutu also won in eight, inluding Sagamu, Ijebu East, Ijebu North East, Ijebu Waterside, Remo North, Abeokuta South, Ikenne, and Ijebu North east.
