Abeokuta INEC Office Attack:  Yakubu Promises Reprinting Of Burnt PVC

Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) assured all eligible voters whose permanent voter cards (PVC) were burnt in the recent arson attack on its office in Abeokuta, that they will vote in the 2023 polls. INEC Chairman, Professor Mahmoud Yakubu, said the 65,699 PVC burnt during the attack, would be replaced before the end of this year.

Mahmoud gave the assurance on Tuesday during an inspection visit to the burnt INEC office at Iyana Mortuary in Abeokuta.

According to the INEC Chairman, the burnt PVC would be reprinted within two days, after the collation of the voter identification number on the affected PVC.

The INEC Chairman also visited the Alake of Egbaland, Oba Aremu Gbadebo at the Ake Palace, Abeokuta, soliciting for assistance for a hitch free 2023 polls.

The monarch promised to support the electoral body in whatever capacity to get the job done successfully.

The monarch noted that the present crop of INEC management has the credibility to succeed in the all-important assignment.
