Buni Regains Control of Apc, Says March 26 Convention On Course

Mai Mala Buni regains control as the secretary of the APC national caretaker committee, senator James Akpan-Udo-Edehe has taken over at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja. Akpan-Udo-Edehe on Tuesday, took over the national secretariat, which had been in the control of governor Abubakar Bello, who declared himself as the acting chairman, in the absence of the national chairman, governor Mai Mala Buni. He was accompanied by other members of the committee and armed policemen to the secretariat. The acting chairman who had been heading the committee in the past days, was absent from the national secretariat on Tuesday.

Addressing newsmen, Akpan-Udo-Edehe assured that the march 26 national convention is still on course. He said that a team of lawyers had been engaged to address pending litigations against the committee and the march 26 national convention. Akpan-Udo-Edehe also explained that Buni is in total control of the committee, accusing the media of misinterpreting the situation which unfolded in the past one week in the committee.

According to him, Buni, while embarking on a long delayed trip abroad, left a written note directing other members of the committee to continue preparation for the national convention. He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)for its firm guidance during the brief take over of the committee by governor Bello as Buni regains control of the party.
