5 Die, 4 Injured In an Auto Crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

Five persons have lost their lives and four others injured in a fresh auto crash on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun state.

The accident which occurred near Fidiwo Bridge on Thursday, involved two vehicles, a bus marked MUS 191 HA and a car marked AKD 754 BG.

The state sector commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Anthony Ugah blamed the accident on speed violation, wrongful overtaking, and tire bursts.

Ugah said this resulted in a loss of control of one of the vehicles which veered off the expressway into the bush.

She said the injured were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere Remo while the remains of the dead were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo.

He urged motorists not to turn the expressway into a race course, because of its good condition.

He advised motorists to have a change of attitude towards driving to save lives and also commiserated with the families of the crash victims praying God to grant them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.

Recall that an accident on Wednesday around NASFAT was said to have occurred around 9.56 am involving two trucks and a bus, killing five people and leaving 10 others injured.

The fatal crash was blamed on reckless driving on the part of one of the trucks’ drivers who made a sudden U-turn without trafficating causing the truck behind it and another bus to lose control and rammed into each other.
