Pope Dies of Stroke: FG, CSN, Speaker Condoles Catholic Church.

President Bola Tinubu of Nigeria has joined US President, Donald Trump, France President, Emmanuel Macron, Israeli President, Isaac Herzog and other World Leaders to mourn the death of Pope Francis at the Age of 88 On Monday.

Expressing grief, President Tinubu described the Pope’s death after the resurrection of Jesus Christ as a sacred return to his creator. Donald trump said Pope Francis was a good man who loved the world. Emmanuel Macron described him as a champion of the poorest and most vulnerable while Israeli President, Isaac Herzog said he was a man of deep faith and boundless compassion.

Former Vice-President Atiku Abubarkar expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Pope Francis, describing it as the end of an era defined by humility, moral courage, and unwavering service to humanity. Similarly, former Labour Party’s Presidential Candidate, Peter Obi described death of the pope as the end of an era in spiritual and moral leadership. Obi praised the late Pontiff’s exemplary faith, hope, compassion, and his dedication to peace, justice, and love.

Pope Francis was the first pope from the Americas or the Southern hemisphere. There had not been a Non-European Bishop of Rome since Syrian-Born Gregory iii died in 741 AD. He was also the first Jesuit to be elected to the throne of St Peter – Jesuits were historically looked on with suspicion by Rome. His last appearance in public was on Sunday at the Vatican’s St Peter’s Square where he wished “Happy Easter” to thousands of worshippers across the globe while enjoining world leaders to ensure there’s freedom of religion and freedom of expression.
