FG, AFDB collaborate on Global Packaging for Nigeria’s Agric Products.

The Federal Government and the African Development Bank (AFDB) are working to end the rejection of the Nigeria’s Agricultural products abroad with renewed efforts to comply with Global packaging and processing standards. Nigeria’s Agricultural exports have been subjected to rejection abroad not because of poor quality but largely due to non-compliance with Global packaging and processing standards.
The Government is determined to reverse this trend in conjunction with the banks’ series of initiatives especially the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zones (SAPZ) Projects with a pilot Programme in cross Rivers and Kaduna States. The SAPZ Programme, which according to Government officials, aligns President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s broader economic diversification agenda, will eventually be extended to all the 36 States of the Federation.
AFDB President, Dr Akinwumi Adesina, has praised the programme saying a well-funded Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone (SAPZ) Programme, built closer to rural farmers will create food security and harness Agricultural value chain to boost foreign exchange earnings.
