Olumo closes for renovation from Monday, April 14, 2025.

The popular Olumo Rock Tourist Centre will be temporarily closed to all visitors and tourists from Monday, april 14, 2025 as the Ogun State Government begins the renovation and face lift of historical site. The renovation is part of the state government’s efforts to boost tourism and preserve cultural assets across the state especially, as hundreds of visitors are billed to visit the state for the upcoming National Sports Festival, Gateway 2025.

The hon. Commissioner for Culture And Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi stated that, the temporary closure was part of a broader commitment to revamp one of the most iconic tourist destinations, improve visitor’s experience and ensure safety measures during the renovation. The commissioner explained that Olumo Rock receives over seventy thousand (70,000)visitors annually and as such deserves a befitting outlook. The State Government apologises to all tourists and the general public, for any inconveniences the closure may cause, adding that further updates would be communicated as renovation work progresses
