Two Children die, 22 other worshippers injured in stampede at Eid prayer ground

Two children have died in a Sallah stampede at the central EIF praying ground in Gombe metropolis, as worshipers converged for prayers to mark the end of Ramadan fast,The children are aged four and four and a half years.

Twenty two others, mainly women and children, sustained injuries during the stampede, shortly after the prayer, which was attended by Governoir Inuwa Yahaya, top Government officials and traditional rulers

The stampede occurred when worshippers after the prayers were rushing to leave the praying ground

Spokesman of the state police command, Buhari Abdullahi said the intense heat and the large number of people contributed to the disaster He said those injured were rushed to the federal teaching Hospital, Gombe and Bulkachawa hospital
