Makinde gives conditions for operation of Sharia Court in Oyo State

Governor Seyi Makinde has given a condition for the sharia arbitration panel to operate in Oyo State
Makinde says Muslim communities in the state are free to set up the panel, if it complies with the provisions of the Nigerian constitution
He spoke on the controversial Islamic court, during the 2025 IFTAR Programme organized by the state government at the government house, Ibadan on Thursday
The governor dismissing report that he plans to go court to stop to challenge the panel, said he was not opposed to the court
He, however said his administration would not stand by and allow anyone to cause religious crisis in the state
The governor said he regards the sharia panel as an alternative dispute resolution mechanism to regular courts
Makinde asked Muslims in the state to feel free and approach the sharia court if they feel like doing so The sharia court has been banned in Ogun and Ekiti States
