Lawmakers oppose Rivers State new Administration

House of representatives says the new Rivers State sole Administrator is to report to the national assembly during the six month period of emergency rule in the State. The house opposed directive by President Tinubu to the administrator to be reporting to the Federal Executive Council, during the six month period. Also, the house recommended the establishment of the National Peace Committee to mediate and restore peace among the warring factions in Rivers State.
The lawmakers made the recommendations, while deliberating on the President’s request for approval of an emergency rule in Rivers State on Thursday. They also advised the president to consider lifting his suspension of Governor Fubara and members of the State House of Assembly before the expiration of the emergency period.
