Senate to reinstate statutory delegates allow political office holders to vote at parties primaries

The Senate seeks to reinstate the statutory delegates to attend and vote during the primary elections of political parties in the country, The electoral act 2022 is to be amended to return the statutory delegates who were barred from the primaries. Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, announced this on Monday while receiving the leadership of the Nigeria bar association at his office in Abuja.

Akpabio faulted the exclusion of statutory delegates from the primaries of political parties, He said it was a mistake in the electoral act 2022, which must be corrected before the 2027 polls.
