Tinubunomics performance: Presidency and Catholic Bishops Differ

Federal Government and the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of Nigeria (CBCN) have joined issues on the impact of the economic reforms of the Tinubu Administration on various households in the country. The Bishops say the economic reforms has led to sky-rocketing inflation and pushed millions of Nigerians into poverty.

The Catholic Bishops Conference President, Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji,Stated this at the opening session of the 2025 first plenary meeting of the conference, held at the catholic secretariat of Nigeria (CSN), on Sunday, in Abuja. In a swift reaction, the presidency faulted the catholic bishops’ appraisal of the economic reforms. The president’s special adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga. In a statement, asserted that Nigeria has made tremendous progress in all areas since president Tinubu assumed office about 22 months ago. According to Onanuga, despite concerns raised by the catholic bishops’ conference of Nigeria, country is making remarkable progress
