Butchers complaints high rise cost of cows

Butchers in Lagos have expressed concern over the rising prices of cows and asked federal Government to come to their aid. The butchers say the cheapest cow now is N700,000, a sharp rise from the recent price range of N200,000 and N360,000, Some cows, according to them are now being offered for sale at N2 million.

Chairman of the state association of butchers, TAIWO RAZAK said the surge in the prices of cows is threatening their livelihood in the state. He called for Federal Government intervention, to save the industry. According to the State Agricultural Commissioner, ABISOLA OLUSANYA, in august last year,100,000 cows were being slaughtered daily in Lagos,
