Ogun dismisses Ondo’s claim to Island where Navy found abandoned Crude Oil well

Ogun State Government has dismissed claims by the Ondo State Government to the Eba Island in the Ogun Waterside, where the Nigerian Navy discovered an abandoned Crude Oil well, which was attracting Oil thieves
Ogun State Government said the Island falls within its territory in the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area
It warns Ondo State Government against instigating communal tension between the Ijebus and Ilaje people, who had been historically co-existing peacefully
Ondo state government, after the Nigerian navy said the abandoned crude oil well was found in Ogun State, said Oke Agor Isekun where the Oil well was located, belongs to it, and not Ogun State
But Ogun State Governor special adviser on Energy, Jide Onakoya on Thursday, accused Ondo State Government of misleading the people in the axis, and that its claim contradicts the established historical, traditional and legal evidences
According to him, a thorough Examination of relevant Maps and markers at borders recognized by the National boundary commission, confirmed that Eba Island is within the Ogun Waterside Local Government Area
Onakoya also accused Ondo State Government of instigating communal tension by laying claim to Irokun in the Ogun waterside, as part of its territory He explained that Irokun was an Ijebu settlement since the British Colonial era, and the its Monarch, is a member of the Ijebu traditional council
