“I can confirm to you that I am now free to come back to Nigeria. There is no legal encumbrance again. Even though I have been living in Cotonou for some time, I can confirm to you categorically that I have now secured the liberty to leave Cotonou for Nigeria,” he said.
He had been under house arrest since July 19, 2021 following his arrest by the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) at Cotonou Airport, while fleeing to Germany.
Igboho shortly after leaving Cotonou on Sunday night, thanked several Yoruba leaders for intervening in his travail while undergoing trial in Benin Republic.
The activist on his Instagram page thanked Former President Obasanjo, Professor Wole Soyinka, Professor Banji Akintoye and many Traditional Rulers.
