The Osinbajo for President media council says it has uncovered a smear campaign plot to malign the reputation of vice president.
The media council in a release, said it tracked the plot to a cell of smear campaign, led by a US based Nigerian, who according to it, is a former student at the university of Lagos, and now a lecturer at the university of Ohio in the US.
According to the council, the campaigners plot to use a fake audio of faceless individuals with fictitious names to cast Osinbajo, who is a Christian, as a religious fanatic, who discriminated against staff of other faiths while he was the attorney general of Lagos state.
In the fake video, the council says that a woman is seen crying and making frantic allegations that she was discriminated against by the then attorney general, because she was not allowed to wear Muslim head cover for women to office.
Someone who was in the ministry during the period, however, said no such incident ever occurred and that it was just a malicious and wicker attempt.
The council clarified that Osinbajo as the Lagos state attorney general has as his secretary, Alhaji Abdul-Gafar Bakare who had in the past testified that he encouraged him to further his education, and sponsored his BSc, Accounting programme and foreign travels.
The media council urges members of the public to ignore the smear campaign when it is released.
