Police IGP Allays Fear of Abuja Residents Over Terrorists’ Threat

Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba has allayed the fear of residents of Abuja amidst the growing security threats from armed bandits and terrorist groups.

The police chief in a statement by the force spokesman, Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said that additional strategic police assets have been deployed to strategic axis of the city and its environs.

Baba also said that force intelligence bureau has been tasked to increase its intelligence gathering.

The police spoke on Tuesday as residents were yet to recover from the news of suspected terrorists who ambushed a team of troops from the army brigade of guards, along Kubwa-Bwari road in the city.

Spokesman of the brigade of guards, Captain Godfrey Abakpa said three soldiers were injured in the ambush and were receiving medical treatment.

The troops were deployed on a routine patrol of the area after authorities of Nigerian Law School, Bwari sent a distress call of the presence of suspected terrorists in the area.

Immediately, the law school had moved the graduation ceremony of the first batch of the 2022 call to bar from the campus away to Jabi.
