Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has won the APC presidential ticket of the for the 2023 presidential poll.
He defeated his closest rivals, including vice president Yemi Osinbajo and transportation minister, Rotimi Amaechi with a wide margin of votes.
Tinubu polled 1,271 votes to defeat 13 other aspirants at the primary election held at the Eagles Square, Abuja between Tuesday and Wednesday.
Chairman of the APC national convention committee, Governor Abubakar Bagudu, declared Tinubu the winner of the tense primaries.
Tracking Tinubu are Rotimi Amaechi who got 316 votes, followed by Yemi Osinbajo who obtained 235 votes.
Others aspirants, including the senate president, Ahmad Lawan, who got 152, Governor Yahaya Bello (47), Governor Dave Umahi (38), while four votes were recorded for Ahmed Rufai Sani.
Chief Ogbonnaya Onu got one vote, Emeka Nwajuiba (1), while Okorocha, and Pastor Tunde Bakare got zero vote.
Tinubu, in his acceptance speech after President Buhari presented him with APC presidential flag, promised to reposition Nigeria if he is elected as president.
He assured those who worked against his presidency that they have nothing to fear from him.
Tinubu promised to assemble the best team to revive the economy and end the spate of insecurity in Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has met with governors on the platform of the party.
The meeting in Abuja, began shortly after Asiwaju Bola Tinubu was declared the winner of the APC presidential primaries on Wednesday.
Some of the governors at the meeting included those of Bayelsa, Rivers, Benue, Sokoto, and Oyo states.
Atiku has also congratulated Tinubu for picking the 2023 APC presidential ticket.
The PDP presidential candidate on his social media pages on Wednesday afternoon. regarded Tinubu’s victory as a hard fought contest.
According to him, Tinubu’s emergence as the APC candidate had confirmed his tenacity.
