Security Operatives Raid Forests in Ogun Border Over Influx of Herders

There is an ongoing clearance operation by security operatives in Imeko Afon forest reserves in Ogun state’s border with Oyo state and Benin republic.

The operation by security operatives aims at ridding the expansive forests of killer herders and other criminal elements, including kidnappers, moving into the state through the axis

The commander of Ogun state so-safe corps, Soji Ganzallo, who made this known said the operation is being conducted by security agencies, including so-safe corps, Amotekun corps, Agro rangers, and joint security task force.

Ganzallo, speaking on a Rockcity FM programme, “daybreak show” said several arrests were made during the operation, which was joined by Oyo state Amotekun corps at Ogun state’s border communities.

The so-safe corps commander confirmed the claim by the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yoruba land, Ibaa Gani Adams of the influx of some illegal aliens with a suspected mission into Ogun state border communities from Mali and Burkina Faso through Benin republic.

According to ganzallo, most of the aliens ended up as okada riders in the state without fixed addresses

Ganzallo explained that most of the okada riders in the state are from Chad, Niger, and Burkina Faso.

He says that is why the state government initiated the ongoing biometric registration of okada riders to capture them on the database for security reasons.

During the programme, several callers from Imeko Afon, Ayete, Iwoye, Sagada, and communities in Ayetoro reported the influx of hostile herders into the axis.

According to them, the herders had been attacking farmers with some of them taking over farmland or killing farmers.
