According to the former Vice Chancellor, some of the professors in Nigerian universities are having difficulties in imparting knowledge to students.

He explains that this would put to an end a situation where students are being trained to cram subjects in their programmes, instead of applying them to solve emerging problems in Nigerian society.

Oyewole also canvassed that public universities should be allowed to run on business principle, by screening potential lecturers and limiting the number of administrators in the institutions.

On the proliferation of universities, the former Vice Chancellor agreed with the National Universities Commission (NUC) that Nigeria still requires more universities to cope with the rising demand for university education in the country.

He, however suggested that new universities being established must be properly funded to have requisite staff and facilities.
