NDLEA Worried Over Hard Drugs Influx into Ogun, Receives Seized Drugs

The national drug law enforcement agency (NDLEA) says Ogun state is in trouble over the massive influx of hard drugs into the state.

The state commander of NDLEA, Ishaku Yusuf Kwajarfa, also expresses concern over the high consumption of illicit drug by youths in the state.

The commander spoke on the development, while receiving from the Ogun area one comptroller of Nigeria customs service, Bamidele Makinde, drugs seized by customs operatives at the customs headquarters in Abeokuta.

Drugs handed over by customs, whose duty paid value is put at 102.8 million naira, included 319 sacks, 476 wraps of booklet size, and 96 wraps of coconut size of marijuana.

The NDLEA commander says the influx of such drug into Ogun state is behind the rise in cultism, armed robbery, kidnapping and other crimes in the state.

He calls for intelligence on hard drug peddling, while urging youths who sell hard drugs in the state to quit the trade, or they would land themselves in trouble.

The customs comptroller says the handing over of the drug would strengthen the synergy between customs and NDLEA.
