16 Drowned While Trying to Escape Terrorists’ Attacks in Niger

Sixteen persons, including women and children, have drowned, while attempting to escape terrorists ravaging communities in Munya local government area of Niger state.

They died aboard a boat which capsized in river Shiroro on Wednesday.

They were relocating from Shatiya to Zumba in Shiroro local government area after they were alerted of movement of over 200 terrorists to the community.

Others in the capsized boat were rescued, but the emergency workers were forced to abandon the bodies of the 16 recovered, when they heard that the terrorists were closing in on the area.
